We all know by now that abs are created in the kitchen, not the gym. So don’t over-do it this year living it up on stuffing and pie. Or if your like me, and you wait all year to eat pumpkin pie, then I say live it up for the holiday and get back on the plan right away! Oh yeah and try working out every day!
Ok Boot Campers, it’s time to rise and shine. We are starting up again on Sundays at noon. Our first day at Boot Camp is Sunday, May 7th. We will meet in Central Park on the West side (enter at 85th street) in the Arthur Ross Pinetum. For those who don’t know it, the Arthur Ross Pinetum is just West of The Great Lawn and just South of The Reservoir. That’s where the swings and pull up bars are located.
As always, bring water and a good attitude! We will run, jump and Tabata our way into Summer.
Each Boot Camp Baby session is $30. Purchase all 4 Sundays in May for $100.

On January 2nd My body fat percentage was 11.4 and I weighed 150.6 pounds.
Not bad for a 58 year old man, right?
12 Weeks later after many Tabata drills and a clean diet, I am pleased to say I have accomplished the mission!
March 31st. 8.5% body fat. 140.8 pounds.
I did not starve myself, on the contrary, I ate 3 to 4 meals every day and occasionally I squeezed in a fifth.
So, in three months I dropped nearly 10 pounds and decreased my body fat by nearly 3 percent.
I’d like to point out that to lose weight in a healthy way, requires a healthy lifestyle. That means taking the time to eat right and exercise regularly.
And it’s fun!
That’s it! There are no quick fixes or special tricks to being fit. It takes work and discipline.
It’s not for everybody. Thanks for watching.
NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION.
How old are you? You don’t exercise? Say that again! Have you been living in another country?
I am a 58 year old man, living in Manhattan. New York City. United States of America.
I do not follow politics, I’m not religious. I live alone and I like it. So what do I do?
I work out. I stretch and breathe and meditate regularly. I cook and eat healthy foods. I’m still learning the saxophone and guitar. I love to sing. I try to mind my own business. Basically I take care of the only person I am truly responsible for. Me. Selfish? I should hope so.
Did you say you don’t work out? What do you do?
Days like this! Exercise makes one feel better. Fact is there are many things that might make one feel better, but some are beyond our control. The weather for instance. Today it’s 60 and beautiful, a great day to get out and enjoy. Tomorrow, the prediction is a winter storm warning with a possible 6-10 inches of snow. Nothing you can do about that…NOTHING. So stop complaining about those things you have no control over and workout so you feel better. Take control of your happiness. Have a great day!

Here are some pics from the last two years of Boot Camp Baby Fun!
Well, I did it! From January 1st through March 25th. That’s exactly 12 weeks of Tabata drills, and Paleo diet. It can be done. I started out at 12.8% body fat and ended up at 8%. I was 148.8 lbs. on January 1st and now I’m hovering at 140 lbs. This morning I was 139.8 lbs.
The first pics are today and following them are some I’ve taken over the last 3 months so you can see the progression.

The world of fitness is full of misleading advice, broken promises and disappointment. Have you ever wondered why? The world of true fitness and the fitness industry are two very different things. Sounds confusing right? It is, it’s designed by the fitness industry to be that way. Now that they have you confused, they can sell you a product to fix you. Sounds great, right? Except it NEVER works. I said NEVER!. That’s right, it never works. You can’t get fit simply by using a product. All you will do is waste your money. I know first hand, I did it for years. I’ve done the dirty work so you don’t have to.
The only way to get in shape is to exercise regularly and eat in a healthy way. I am going to repeat that, but not here. I will repeat that to every client and everyone who asks me about getting in shape. Forever! The fitness industry and the supplement industry are just that. Industry. They are selling supplements. They are selling fitness. Remember back when I said you can’t get fit by using a product? Well unless the industry is selling you workouts, you won’t succeed buying their product. If on the other hand they are selling you workouts and instruction, motivation and expertise, then you might succeed.
Which brings me to my point. Spend your money on INSTRUCTION, MOTIVATION AND EXPERTISE! A good personal trainer can change your life! You might think I’m a bit biased being a personal trainer myself. So maybe I am. I have been training people for over 20 years. I know not all trainers are the same. And not every trainer will change your life for the better. Find one with many years of experience. Make sure they are certified and have CPR training and liability insurance. That is critical. Any trainer who doesn’t meet these few requirements, isn’t in business as a trainer. They are part of a fitness industry that is ripping you off.
If money issues keep you from working with a trainer, don’t give up. Negotiate. That’s right I said it, negotiate. A real fitness professional will want you to workout with him or her rather that turn you away because you can’t afford it. When it comes to getting fit and money, there will always be issues. Don’t get caught up in the supplement world thinking you can buy fitness there, you can’t. Do yourself a favor and take care of yourself. Spend you hard earned money on a personal trainer who truly wants you to get fit and stay fit for the rest of your life!
6 weeks of Basic Training in Central Park. 12 workouts to get you started this Spring. Twice a week starting on Earth Day April 22nd. Tuesday evening at 6:30 and Sunday at 3:00 pm. Check it out on Facebook.com/Fantonefitness
Here’s what I think about getting older.
You have more life experience than younger people.
You’ve been where they are, they haven’t been where you are yet.
You get to do what you want.
You can change your mind over and over.
You realize you don’t know everything.
You realize nobody knows everything.
You realize you don’t need to know everything.
Even if you make mistakes, you get another chance.
With all that practice, you’re bound to get better.
There’s no better way to get more wisdom.
There’s more time to get in better shape.
It’s a great way to live.
And most importantly, you’re alive!
Do me a favor. Have some fun!
